Boxy Charm June 2018

Hey everyone, this is one of my favorite topics to blog about and I hope you love reading my unboxings! If you are unfamiliar with Boxycharm, it is a subscription service that sends a box of goodies to your home every month. Items are always beauty related (hair, makeup, skincare) and they range in size/price but it is always $21 per month. This months Boxycharm is so insane! First off, I received 9 items- yes you read that correct, 9 items! Let’s jump right into this unboxing:

Sol de Janerio Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Funny thing about this product- I recently bought a jar of this Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and it smells so freaking good that even my boyfriend was using it! He was using it so much that I bought another one before we ran out.. and then Boxycharm sends me another one! I will definitely be using this- it’s probably my favorite beauty product this summer- I am obsessed! If you’ve never used this I highly recommend trying it. It is pricey, but go grab a free sample at sephora or at least go smell how heavenly this stuff is!!!! The scent is pistachio caramel and its seriously so sweet and delicious that I bought the body mist fragrance too! I can’t get enough of this stuff. Besides the amazing smell, this stuff really does work! This is a fast absorbing tightening body cream. I swear it helps with cellulite on thighs and plumps the skin so beautifully.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick

I have actually never used a Ofra Liquid Lipstick before but I was happy to see this in my Boxycharm! The color is right up my alley, I love 90’s-esque shades of brown lip color. I haven’t worn this on my lips yet, but I did a quick swatch.

This has a very sweet scent, reminds me of cake batter! If you dont like fragrance in cosmetics this might not be for you, but the scent doesn’t bother me at all. I am really loving this shade and curious to see how it lasts throughout the day.

Alamar Cosmetics Reina del Caribe Volume 1

This packaging is too cute, I love the bright yellow tropical/summer themed package. My favorite detail is the small water and sun symbols next to each shade name- these represent if you should apply wet or dry- such a cute small detail!

These swatched so beautifully, serious knocked my socks off with how smooth and creamy the metallics are. I use them for the first time today and oh my god!!! I love how flawlessly these blend and I cannot believe how pigmented these are! The mattes are BRIGHT and BOLD on the eyes! The metallics apply more on the sheer side if you use a dry brush; using a wet brush wet amps up the color and texture! I am dying to try more from this brand now, this palette is amazing!!!

Jonteblu Cosmetics Eye Liner

This deep brown eyeliner is the perfect shade to accent the colors in the Alamar palette! I used this to line my water line and it really meshed all the colors together beautifully. This is a traditional wooden pencil liner that you would sharper, not a twist up. It applied creamy to the eye and the color was a perfect shade of brown! I really like this a lot especially because I have so many black liners but few brown ones!

Battington Lashes

This little box is adorable, I really like this packing! These lashes look really pretty and fluffy. They do look lightweight with a thin strip which is always nice for flexibility and application. I have not trie these out yet but I am curious because I am not familiar with this company. It is exciting to receive lashes in a subscription box though!

Luxie Brush Trio

I cannot believe this box came with 3 FULL SIZED Luxie Brushes!!! I absolutely love Luxie Beauty, I use their face and eyeshadow brushes pretty much everyday. I was sooooo excited to see this trio in my Boxycharm. I used them today and of course, as all Luxie brushes are, they were super soft and amazing! I love these and I am so happy they are full sized, not travel sized! This trio comes with a fountain brush, a powder brush and a tapered highlighting brush.

Overall

This June 2018 Boxy Charm is bananas!!! I loooove this box sooo much, it might be my favorite Boxycharm yet! Every month I am so impressed with the amount of products I receive for only $21, so amazing!

Boxycharm Unboxing: March 2018

It’s Boxycharm unboxing day!!!!! My favorite thing ever is ripping into this little box of goodness and adding to my already over crowded vanity!

If you are unfamiliar with Boxycharm it is a monthly subscription service that is $21 per month for 5 beauty products. I’ve been signed up for Boxycharm for several months now and every single month the value has been way over $21, usually over $100 even! So let’s jump right in to the March 2018 Boxycharm!

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Smokey Eye Brush Set

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Smoke Eye Brush Set- $23, thevintagecosmeticscompany.com

These brushes have been a bit of a roller coaster ride (I know I’m so dramatic). I first pulled these out and thought “hmmm.. I have too many brushes already” so I put this to the side, not overly excited to use these. When it came time for me to take my blog photos, I open the cardboard unit and pulled the brushes out and fell in love! Brushing them on my hand they felt soft and the lettering on the handles are just too freaking cute.

So this morning, when getting ready, I reached for all three of these brushes while applying my eyeshadow. Unfortunately, these are not as soft on the eye as they are on my hand. Keep in mind the skin on your hands is thick whereas your eyelids are very thin and delicate so that’s where these fell flat for me. I tried to use these even though they were a little scratchy but it was just too uncomfortable and I ended up putting these down and grabbing my go to Wet n Wild Brushes. Out of these 3 brushes, I did find the flat brush was the best one, I used it to smudge shadow under my lower lash line and it was fine. Not incredible, but not as scratchy as the two blending brushes. I don’t think this 3 pack of brushes in worth the $23 price tag, especially since I like the Wet n Wild (white & pink) brushes way better and they are price between $0.99 – $2.99 each.

South Mane 3 Eye Gel Packs

South Mane 3 Eye Gel Packs- $9, southmanehaircare.com

These gel eye masks are to be placed on the delicate skin under your eyes. I have never used this brand before but I have use products along these lines. I love the Sephora Pearl Eye Masks that are $5 per pair, they definitely show a huge improvement in puffiness and redness. Again, I haven’t used this product yet but I definitely will be! I prefer these over a full sheet mask- those tend to slide around and make talking difficult. There are perfect since they are just for your under eyes! The price on this seems very fair, at $3 per pair I could see myself purchasing these again, assuming they work. i’ll keep everyone posted on that!

Pur x Boxycharm Eye Shadow Palette

Pur x Boxycharm Eye Shadow Palette- $36, purcosmetics.com

Ummmmmm, I’m sorry do you see how beautiful this palette is?!?! I love this color set up- the warm colors are all so beautiful and the cool shades are the perfect pop of color! I love how the matte shades in here work well for a transition shade. They also have enough variety that you can create a lot of looks using this palette alone. This is definitely a sunset vibe color scheme, very summery! I did swatch all of these on my arm and these are sooooo pigmented.

Pur x Boxycharm Eye Shadow Palette- $36, purcosmetics.com

The mattes are buttery and creamy to the touch. The shimmers are so soft and smooth. I am in love with this palette! I haven’t used it on my eyes yet so I really can’t account for fall out or wearability but so far I am digging this set up and the textures! Any time there is a palette in a subscription box I callout a win! This is a great item to get in a box being that the palette is $36 and I paid $21 for ALL of these items! Also did I mention that Pur Cosmetics makes gorgeous highlighters, so I just assume I’ll love this as well!

Pretty Vulgar Make them Blush in Hush Blush

Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush in Hush Blush- $26, prettyvulgar.com

This is the second time I’ve received a Pretty Vulgar item in a Boxycharm. I have a metallic liquid lip by this company that is super opaque and pigmented! I don’t reach for it a lot because it is a metallic pick, not really my style, but the packaging and wear time is really nice. When I pulled this blush out of my March Boxycharm I was floored by the packaging. Are you serious Pretty Vulgar?! This is STUNNING! I love antique/vintage style home decor and this is very reminiscent of gorgeous vintage frame or mirror.

I wore this today and the color is right up my alley. I love the mauve-y/rose color. It applied well to the cheeks and blended out nicely. The only negative I noticed during my first use was the kick back. As soon as my brush hit the pan there was kick back everywhere. This is a soft creamy formula so its not the worst thing in the world to have kick back but worth pointing out. If you love this shade but don’t want to drop $26 on one blush, I would recommend the Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in Mellow Wine which is a fantastic dupe for this blush and only $2.99.

Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara

Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara- $20, ulta.com

First of all, this is the biggest mascara tube I’ve ever seen in my life. When I pulled this out of my Boxy Charm I thought maybe the cardboard unit was just really large, but the tube itself is also massive!

I want to point out that the claims on the box of this product is kind of hard to believe….. this says 200% thicker & 314% more curl!! Of course, I wanted to use this to see how much volume and curl this would give my lashes so I tried this out right away. My first thoughts were the wand is way too big to precisely coat the lashes. It’s a little awkward trying to get close to the inner corner and it was a little messy doing the bottom lashes because the wand kept hitting my skin. As I was applying, this went on thick and wet. I prefer a drier mascara that I can add multiple coats to. This went on so thick and wet so it felt very heavy. My lashes didn’t necessarily clump together terribly, but this didn’t fan my lashes out either. It did dry down and felt flexible still which is good. I hate when mascara dry so hard and crunchy.

Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara- $20, ulta.com

I would 314% say that this does not stand up to its outrageous claims. Don’t get me wrong this isn’t a terrible product. If you like wet mascaras, this does a nice job of coating the lashes and making them very black, but it doesn’t give you a huge boost in curl which is what I was hoping for. I see myself using this again as it wore well under my also lashes but I wouldn’t repurchase at $20.

Overall

The March 2018 Boxycharm kicked major butt this month! I am obsessed with the Pur Palette and the Pretty Vulgar Blush. The South Mane patches will go to good use in the future and I’ll probably even use the mascara again! The brushes were a little bit of a let down since it was just too scratchy for my eyes. Overall the price of this box was $21- if I had purchased these items separately is would have been $114- which means I saved $93!

Boxy Charm Unboxing: February 2018

Boxy Charm Unboxing is my favorite thing everrrrrr! I love this subscription service so far, I’ve been signed up for about 4 months now and every month I love the variety of products, plus the savings are unreal! The Boxy Charm subscription service is $21 per month. The value is always way over $21 so you really can’t go wrong with this subscription if you are a beauty lover! Each item below is listed with the retail price, at the bottom will show the total savings if you were to buy these individually. Lets jump right into this months Boxy Charm!

Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlight Palette ($39.99)

This was definitely the big stand out item for Boxy Charm this month. I really love the packaging on this, give me holo containers on everything and I’ll be happy. The color selection is vast and so gorgeous. I see this being an amazing summer item to do a festival look or even highlight the shoulder with a pop iridescent color! I didn’t do swatches for this item, which I apologize for, but I ended up putting this is my current giveaway on IG (March 2018 giveaway). I do love this and thing its an amazing item to receive it a subscription box, I just know I wouldn’t get a ton of every day use out of it and my giveaway is holographic themed so it just had to go to lucky follower who will use it and love it! Side note: Holographic items photograph so insane with my beauty lights!

Crown Brushes Pro Brush Trio ($29.99)

I have used Crown Brushes in the past, so I am familiar with the brand. I was excited when I saw these in my Boxy Charm this month because the shape of the second largest one was exactly what I’ve been wanting to apply contour! I do minimal powder contouring, on my jawline, nose and cheekbones. The middle brush in this pack is the perfect size to apply contour to the cheekbones without going overboard! The white handles with the white to pink ombre brushes are super cute- they look great on my vanity!  I really love how soft these are and how they disperse powder products. I would have been happy with 1 brush, so receiving 3 is awesome!

Cover FX Veil Shimmer in Amethyst ($28)

I opened this up thinking it was a lip topper and I was really excited to give it a go.. then I read the label and it’s for your eyes!  I am not too adventurous with purples, blues, greens, etc. I’m more of a neutral color scheme kind of girl- with the occasional pop of color. This product looks so gorgeous and Cover FX is a great brand so I added this to my holo giveaway as well. I just feel like someone could use this frequently, whereas I probably wouldn’t.

Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil ($21)

I have used this brand once before, I had a beautiful rose gold highlight that came in a giant pan, was packaged beautifully and wore really well so I was excited to see another product from Vintage Cosmetics to try out. I can always use a back up black eyeliner, so I threw this into my vanity but I haven’t used it as of yet. I use pencil eyeliner every so often so I know I will reach from this eventually.

BellaPierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder ($15)

Loose powders makes me nervous. I really prefer pressed powders because I have more control over them. This does look like a gorgeous blue shimmery/glittery product that would make for a fun pop of color! Maybe I’ll give this a go this summer or throw it in with my more colorful makeup that I use when I do cosplay… This might even call for a Mermaid look just because this is such a intense shade of blue! Sorry for the weird photo on this one, it was difficult to get the company name and the powder at the same time.

Overall

The value is great on this box, even though some of these products wouldn’t be my go to every day items, I still think they are cool products and really versatile to create amazing looks! I am very pleased with the amount of products/ the value of this box being that I only paid $21 for all of this! If you were to buy these 5 products individually, it would be $133.98… that’s $112.98 in savings!

This box fits its themed perfectly. “Galaxy Glow” is a strong vibe with all of these far out products. Can’t wait to see what next month brings! What did you guys think of the February Boxy Charm? Let me know if the comments below.
