Dupes (Blush & Highlight)

Not all makeup is created equally. There are so many high end brands that can get away with high pricing because of their formulas, wear time, pigmentation and overall look. A lot of people, including myself, fall victim to the high end trap: we think its better just because of the brand name. However, thats really not the case.

There are some drug store brands that hold a candle to these high end brands at a wayyyyyy cheaper price. It’s kind of crazy to look at my makeup collection and notice that so many items have similar colors and textures. I will say, when I find dupes, sometimes they look similar, but they don’t wear the same- and that’s why this list is kind of short. I found 3 items in my vanity that are the same color, texture and perform exactly the same!

Elf Powder Blush Palette $6 vs. Too Faced Love Flush Blush

These beautiful peachy/coral blushes are both great items! Of the two, the Elf Blush is more pigmented when swatching and when applying to the cheek using a brush.

The wear time is similar for both brands, I wouldn’t say one last longer throughout the day.  The Elf Blush palettes are an everyday item for me, the colors are beautiful, pigmented and the palette style packaging is super convenient to travel with. The Elf palette dupes the Too Face Blushes at a wayyyy less expensive price point, plus is comes with multiple shades.  Elf Palette is $6 for 4 Blushes– Too Faced is $26 for 1 Blush.

Wet n Wild Bronze Rainbow vs. Becca Opal

These are both blinding, chunky, golden based highlights. These swatch and wear very similarity being that they are gold/bronze shades with tons of glitter.

Let me repeat, these highlights are very chunky and glittery!!! If you prefer a smooth highlight, these may not be your cup of tea. The finishes and colors are SO similar you could literally wear one on each cheek and no one would notice! Did I mention the price difference for these comparable products?! Wet n Wild is $5.99- Becca is $19.

Balm Cosmetics Balm Springs Blush vs. Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in Mellow Wine

These blushes are similar in both color and finish as well; they have a beautiful muted rose-y matte pink color which can work well on so many skin tones.

The Wet n Wild is more pigmented than the Balm Cosmetics Blush in both swatching and applying with a brush on the cheeks. The Wet n Wild is so pigmented that I typically dip my brush in the pan, wipe on a paper towel lightly, and then apply to my cheeks. That extra step helps a lot to give a more airbrushed look and less clown face, since the color is so intense. Again, the colors and finishes are the same, so you can build the Balm Cosmetics blushes up to be more pigmented like the Wet n Wild. This price difference is kind of insane. Wet n Wild $2.99 — Balm Springs $21

Overall

  • If we purchased these three dupes, it would be $14.98.
  • If we purchased all three high end products, it would be $66.
  • That’s $51.02 less expensive for the same color and texture.

All three drug store products works just as well as the high end items- I cannot stress enough that the quality is there!!! I wanted to share items with you that are so similar that you cannot deny its a dupe. Please note, I am a fan of all of these products so I’m not putting down the high end brands, just wanting to share the similarities so you can save a few pennies. Is this something I should write about more? I have some primers, sprays and powders that I believe are great dupes, interested in reading about that? Let me know in the comments.

First Impressions: Glam Glow Blue Sonic Mask

Once again, my curiosity has been peeked after seeing the same product all over Instagram. It seems every beauty gurus out there uses or promotes the Glam Glow Gravity Mud Firming Treatment, which is a shiny blue peel of mask. Glam Glow is known for their high end masks, which will cost you a pretty penny.

This is the .5 oz unit which retails at $22. The larger unit is $69 for 1.7 oz. I purchased my mask through Sephora, also for sale on the Glam Glow website. Like always, let’s break this down and find out if it really is worth the hype!

Packaging

Obviously this is a special product because of the packaging, being that it’s a collectors edition. I got the Tails container; there was also a Sonic one and a Knuckles one.

Smell & Texture

I don’t like the smell of this AT ALL, however I think I may be alone on that opinion. This has a very tropical scent, to me I smell coconut alcohol  and sun screen. I know, most people love that scent but I personally do not and I didn’t expect it at all.

The texture is thick and gel like at first. It spreads pretty far on the face as you rub it in, so I suggest going in with a little and add from there.

Application

The package does say to avoid the eyebrows and hairline, so be mindful when using this, don’t rip your hair out!

This dried pretty quickly. Because it said to leave on for 30 minutes, I thought this would stay wet for a while, or at least be tacky. However, within about 5 minutes this was dry to the touch. Running my fingers over this was interesting. The mask did not budge, slide, or even come off onto my fingers. It was completely locked in place on my skin. The mask was very smooth all over except for my forehead, which felt rough to the touch. I wonder if this is because my forehead is my oily area?

This is a firming mask, so expect a tightening feeling when wearing this!

Removing the Mask

This peels off very easily. I used the pad of my finger to roll the edge of this until I was able to get a good piece lifted off of my chin. From there I slowly pulled the mask away from my skin and it very gently peeled off. I was a little nervous to remove this, but it wasn’t painful or difficult, much to my surprise! When I pulled this off of my face, you could literally see indentations from my pores on the strips of mask. That shows you how this really penetrates pores to remove dirt and oil.

My skin felt very tight and smooth when I took this off. I rinsed with warm water, dried my skin and then followed with a moisturizer.

Results

Being that this is a first impression, I’ve only used this product once. Most of the time, with skin care, you need to try the product out for a few solid weeks to see any results. From my first use of this product I can tell you my skin already looks improved! My pores look smaller and clean. My skin looks refreshed and less dull. And the weirdest thing, my skin still feels tight like when the mask was on. It’s been about 20 minutes and my face feels tight and plump!

Worth the Hype?

I am truly impressed with this mask! I don’t think I’ve ever experienced immediate results with a skin care product, at least not the this level. I would 100% recommend this product, this may even become my new skin care holy grail! I cannot wait to do this again next week and see how my skin improved over time. Now I understand the hype on Instagram, this product works; totally worth the hype!

Ipsy vs. Sephora Play: July 2017

One of my favorite posts to share with you guys and gals are the monthly Ipsy and Sephora Play unboxing! If you are unfamiliar with these, they are a month subscription service that mails 4-5 products to your doorstep! The products range in size from sample, deluxe sample and full sized. In Ipsy, there is a mixture of high end and drugstore brands; Sephora Play is high end only, found in Sephora stores.

The items pictured are sample sized, unless otherwise stated. The prices listed along side the products are for FULL SIZED versions. The retailers vary, as I look up where to find these the cheapest, incase you do not have an Ipsy subscription. If you are in Ipsy subscriber, make sure to check their website as they do offer sales and coupon codes.

Let’s jump right in! These are the bags that I received this month:

Cosmetics Bags

These are both cute bags.. nothing I’m jumping for joy over, but they are cute nonetheless. The zippered bag, with the cartoon egg thing was from Ipsy.  The pink plaid Glamp Out bag is from Sephora. Now for the important stuff.. what’s inside?!

Sephora

  • Ren Clear Skin Care Ever Calm Global Protection Day Cream
  • Clinique Chubby Stick in
  • Madam C J Walker Beauty Culture Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque
  • It Cosmetics Super Hero Mascara

Ipsy

  • Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer
  • Windy Lux Double Matte Whip
  • Ciate Wonderland Eyeliner
  • TonyMoly Im Real Sheet Masks in Green Tea and Lotus
  • M Princess Pressed Eyeshadow

Individual Item Breakdown

Sephora Play Items:

Ren Clear Skin Care Ever Calm Global Protection Day Cream

This moisturizer is suppose to help the skin purify from environmental issues like smoke, pollution and weather. I have used a variety of moisturizers, but none that have made this claim. I am interested in how this would work but I feel like these are the type of products you need to use daily for a while to see it is really pays off.  ($22.97, walmart.com)

Clinique Chubby Stick in Woppin’ Watermelon

I have used a few of these before, in different shades and I do like the feel of them on the lips. These have very little color pay off  in these lighter shades like this. Since I already have a few of these in similar shades, I will be including this in an upcoming giveaway. ($17, sephora.com)

Madam C J Walker Beauty Culture Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque

I’ve been more into hair care lately, so I will be trying this out for sure. My hair is chemically treated (bleach, color removers, and a ton of color deposits) so I could definitely use a refresher! I don’t typically use hair masques but that’s what these subscription boxes are all about- trying new things! ($32, sephora.com, currently out of stock)

It Cosmetics Super Hero Mascara

I have gotten this before in a subscription box and used it in the past. This isn’t my favorite mascara in the world, but I dont hate it. This does add a bit of length and volume, but nothing too dramatic. I do like that the formula being that isn’t too drying and it doesn’t flake. ($24, itcosmetics.com)

Ipsy Items:

Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer

I have heard a lot about this bronzer, it seems to be pretty hyped up on Instagram, soI was very excited to see this! I am not huge on bronzers, being that I have pale skin, but this gives such a nice glow-y feel that is perfect for the summer. I apply this with a large angled fluffy brush to my temples, cheekbones, and down the side of my neck. I love how this wears on the skin! The packaging on this is really cute too, with a faux crocodile skin on the compact. The pan size is good sized and I see this lasting my quiet a while! ($30, tartecosmetics.com)

Windy Lux Double Matte Whip in Angel Food

This product is a rose pink matte liquid lipstick. The packing and name is super cute, although it doesn’t seem like a very big sample compared to the same of most liquid lipsticks. The full sized in so adorable, it has little ice-cream cones on it , so cute! I did swatch this on my hand and it was tacky at first and then dried down completely matte. This is so long lasting, the swatch stayed on my hand the entire day until I removed it with soapy water! I am impressed with the staying power of these and would like to try other colors! ($13, winkylux.com)

Ciate Wonderland Gel Kohl Eyeliner Pencil

This is a cool concept, one side is eyeliner and the other side is an angled brush. The brush is insanely soft and flexible. I definitely thought it would be stiff and was really surprised at how well it blended the liner out with the bendable bristles. I haven’t tried this on my eye yet, so I dont know how well it would hold up in the water liner, but I will give it a whirl soon. I swatched this on my hand and the liner is a bit rough, not super creamy, but it does have good color pay off. The pigment is definitely bold and blends down softly, so I like that you could do a different looks with this product! ($18, sephora.com)

TonyMoly Im Real Sheet Masks in Green Tea and Lotus

I love receiving sheet masks in my subscription boxes because I always find new brands or mask types that I’m unfamiliar with. I am excited to try these out, I saw this brand listed on a makeup website recently and I was intrigued! These are really inexpensive for sheet masks, so if they work out for me, I will definitely be repurchasing. Who doesn’t want affordable skin care?! ($3 each, macys.com)

M Princess Pressed Eyeshadow in Biscuit

I am just not a fan of single eyeshadows. I typically throw them in a random drawer and forget about them. I am a palette queen all the way. I know, I know, just get a Z palette to hold all of my singles, I keep telling myself but haven’t actually done it. This color on this looks nice, but upwards of $15 seem like a lot of money for a single shadow. I did not open this or swatch it because it will be in an comping giveaway (possibly this week so keep you eyes peeled!) ($15.45, http://www.emmprincess.com.au)

Overall

The winner this month is clearly IPSY! I was really excited with the variety of products this month. It was 6 products total, since it came with two different sheet masks!  For $10 I am really ecstatic to receive a lipstick, eyeshadow, two face masks, bronzer and an  eyeliner!!!

Sephora Play on the other hand was a little underwhelming. I will likely use some of these, but I just wasn’t super excited the way I was when I opened my Ipsy bag. As you may have noticed, there are only 4 items listed for my Sephora Box this month, because I did not receive one of the items listed on my information pamphlet, so I know I was suppose to receive it… Also, the fragrance sample I received leaked…. so not great showing this month for the Sephora Box.

Unicorn Glow Box by Wet n Wild

Everyone is unicorn obsessed lately, and that mean makeup brands are capitalizing on the trending fashion. Wet n Wild is one of the brands that released a limited edition Unicorn Glow line. This line includes highlighters, loose pigments, lipsticks and a super cute highlighting brush. These items are sold separately or in a full set, which is what I got my hands on! This box is available on wetnwild.com for $30.

Lets start at the beginning. I ordered this on 07/03 and it was on my doorstep by 07/15. That’s 12 days total, 8 business days. That’s not terrible for shipping, but it’s not Sephora fast. I did look at multiple stores to find some of these items but none of the retailers, like CVS, Walmart, etc had these in stock so I ordered online instead. This was packaged really well, with ample bubble wrap to secure the products inside the box.

The product packaging is really cute, with a holographic unicorn embellishment on the front of the box.

When I opened it up there was another layer of bubble wrap which made me very excited! I’m glad them take the time to make sure the products are secure!

NOW, FOR THE INSIDE….

Ugh, tell me this isn’t adorable! This is packaged so well and looks so professional! I am really loving this vault style packaging!

Now let’s jump into my first impressions on these products. I have played around with these and swatched them on my face and hands, however I haven’t worn these for a full day so I don’t know how ell they hold up. I will definitely let you know as I become more familiar with the products.

Brush

This brush is the reason I looking into this line and purchased the box. The brush alone is listed for $5. It is really adorable with the oil slick/ metallic colors in the handle, which is shapes like a unicorn horn. The bristles are soft, sturdy and have a great rounded shape that picks up and distributes product really well. My one complaint would be the weight of this brush. The handle is very lightweight plastic feeling and just seems kind of cheap. It would be nice to have some weigh in the shaft of the brush. With that being said, the brush itself is great and that’s what important. The bristle texture and shape is prefect for highlighting.

Loose Pigments (3)

  • Unicorn Wishes, a deep cobalt blue with gold sparkle
  • Pegasus Flutter, a shimmery baby pink with silvery undertones
  • Mythical Dreams, a shimmery purple with blue undertones

These are beautifully pigmented! I am not typically a fan of loose pigments but the colors are fabulous and the texture blends out so smoothly. The container on these is so genius havening a flip up cap over the sifter! This will help so much when you open these, being that the product would fly around and get stuck in the cap to create a giant mess.

Highlights (3)

  • Everlasting Glow, a pink/champagne with silver undertones
  • Unicorn Glow, green, silver and yellow undertones when mixed (rainbow)
  • Bronze Over the Rainbow, a blinding gold

These highlighters are insanely blinding and I LOVE IT! I would probably say Everlasting Glow is my favorite. These swatches are the highlighters swirled all together. The fun thing is you can use your brush to target a certain part of these highlighters for a certain color rather than swirling. The texture of these are really nice for a drugstore highlight but there is a ton of fallout, so it’s a little messy.

Lipsticks (2)

  • Immortal Soul, (white band on packaging),  white/lavender holographic
  • Unicorn Tears (blue band on packaging),  pink/blue holographic

These are really pretty holographic lipsticks with a creamy consistency. I will say they look different on the lips than swatched on the hands, much more subtle on the lips. I tried to layer these over a dry liquid lipstick thinking these would transform the color, and work like a lip topper, but it didn’t work. It ended up looking muddy and weird. Maybe I didn’t have a good base for it, so I’ll try again with another formula and see how it works.

Overall

I really give Wet n Wild credit, they are stepping up their game a lot lately. I couldn’t ask for more from a affordable, cruelty free brand! I am excited to play around with these more and explore some brighter makeup looks! Has anyone reading used this line yet? Let me know in the comments what items you are loving, I know I am digging these highlighters!

Drug Store Prices, High End Results

If there’s one statement that I find myself repeating to others who ask about beauty, it’s “You don’t have to spend a ton to achieve a beautiful look!” There are so many IG accounts and Youtubers showing us all these luxury products that will seriously break your bank but what about those hidden gems at the drug store?! Lets shine some light on those drugstore priced products that have a high end performance.

Almay Liquid Eyeliner, $9.99

My eyeliner needs to  be 3 things: as black as possible, as matte as possible, and as long lasting as possible. This liquid eyeliner hits all three of those, plus its just under $10! I have used this eyeliner for a good majority of my life because its just sooooo good. The application is easy peasy and a sharp wing holds up really well throughout the day. I have used my fair share of high end liquid liners and most don’t come close to this amazing formula.

Simple Micellar Wipes, $7.99

These wipes will remove everything from your face effectively but very gently. I really love the texture, the wipes are soft and coated in the micellar solution. I have tried other brands that either have very stiff wipes or they’re just too dry. I start and end my day with these, using one in the morning before staring my makeup and one at night to take it all off! A quick tip for really hot summer days is to keep this package in your fridge! At the end of the day when your hot and sweaty, a cold wipe feels so nice to clean your face and make you feel refreshed!

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks, $5.99

I have a few Maybelline lipsticks in various shades and finishes but my all time favorite is the matte shade, Touch of Spice. This color is so pigmented and gorgeous and completed underrated! I see so many brands coming out with mauve-y shades like this, priced anywhere from $15-30. These Maybelline lipsticks wear really well and are not overly drying like a lot of matte products. I have to say this $5 lipstick is blowing a lot of these luxury brands out of the water.

Shea Moisture Masks, 2 for $5

Everyone seems to be on a skin care kick lately, including myself! You want to start off with a prepped canvas to create your artwork so it makes sense so many beauty gurus love masks. I have noticed that skin care is getting reallllllly expensive lately. Luckily I found these mud mask packages for sale at Walmart, 2 for $5! Not only are these super inexpensive to begin with, but you can absolutely get more than one application per package! I typically get 3 masks per package since its so thick and creamy it spreads out pretty far with just a little product. I have tried a few of the different types and my favorite is the Radiant Mud Mask: with hibiscus & coconut as well as the Clarifying Mud Mask: with black african soap, tamarind & tee tree oil.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer Neutralizer (Yellow) $7.99

The yellow shade in this will neutralize purple undertones in the skin, making it perfect to cover dark circles. I would still recommend a concealer on top to better match you skin tone as this is more for color correcting opposed to coverage. The packaging on this is so well thought out. The top is a dome shaped sponge that soaks up the product when you turn the bottle. You will hear this click as the product rises to the sponge. Having this packaged like so, you really can get every last drop out of the container, oppose to wand concealers where you just cant reach what has settled at the bottom. The one pictured is running extremely low, so I will be replacing soon! If you have dark circles under your eyes, this baby will become you new best friend.

NYX Liquid Suede, $6.99

These are pretty much Matte, but they say suede. They aren’t overalls drying, but I would suggest a lip scrub before using this for an even application. The formula of this is smooth and creamy. The colors are completely opaque and wear beautifully throughout the day. I do like that these are buildable, you can reapply and not get cakey, cracked lips.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation, $5.99

If you need a full coverage foundation, look no further! This foundation covers acne and dark spots wonderfully and still feels light on the face. I would 100% recommend this product to anyone who wants a lot of coverage but not a big bill. I have a more in-depth review of this product in a previous blog post titled “Wet n Wild vs. High End Foundations”. Check that out for more information.

Pur Cosmetics Elevation Palette, $15

This is the only product on this list you cannot find at a drugstore; this is available online at purcosmetics.com but I just had to include it on the list. Most high end highlights run about $30 each. This palette comes with three colors AND a small fan brush for $15, such an amazing deal!!!! The formula is soft and velvety. Pigmentation is beautiful and the shade variety is really nice being there are 3 colors: champagne, pink, and silver/white tone. I love the way these look on the skin, so smooth and bling-y!

Overall: These products all work so well, they could definitely be sold for more and still be worth it. Not that I’m complaining, I love the low price tags associated with these stellar products! What you you guys and gals think about this list? Are there any products on here you use instead of high end items? I know I love all of these cosmetics so much and find myself reaching for them over really expensive items I own.

Ipsy VS Sephora Play: March 2017

This month I received my first Sephora Play box and I was sooooo excited to unbox it. It just so happened that it was delivered the same day as my Ipsy bag, so I figured why not do a double unboxing?! I’m thinking it would be fun to put these two subscriptions up against each other to battle it out. Which bag is worth the $10 per month, and which one is superior?

If you are unfamiliar with these subscription boxes, heres how they work: Each month you are billed $10 automatically and sent a subscription box. The box includes a cosmetic bag and 5 cosmetic products. These products range from sample to full sized and retails at different price marks. Ipsy sends a collection of drugstore and high end brands. Shore Play sends brands that are sold in Sephora stores.

Listed in the product descriptions are the pricing for a full sized product. The Ipsy products are listed from different websites that I found the cheapest sale price. The Sephora products pricing is listed from the Sephora website.
Ipsy Products:

  • Cosmetics Bag
  • First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer
  • Tarte Cosmetic Tartest Lip Paint
  • Eyeko Fat Eye Stick
  • Eva Nyc Mane Magic 10-IN-1 Primer
  • Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush

Sephora Play Products:

  • Cosmetics Bag
  • Benefits Watts Up Highlighter
  • Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast
  • Glam Glow Glowstarer Mega illuminating Moisturizer
  • Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow
  • Josie Maran Finishing Balm
  • Chloe Sample Perfume

Now lets break down each item!

Ipsy

Cosmetic Bag

This is my favorite bag from Ipsy yet! I’m in love with the color and design. The flap over top is cute and playful. This went into my purse immediately as a wallet! I would honestly pay close to $10 for this bag alone because its just so stylish. So I am beyond happy. As you may know, there are some Ipsy bags I cannot stand and just give away because they are not my style. This isn’t one of them, I kept this baby fir myself.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer

This brand is fantastic; I was very pleased to see this in this months bag. I am a huge skincare person and this winter has been drying me out! I have been testing a bunch of new moisturizers lately and this is one of the best I’ve found for my nighttime routine. My skin feels very soft and hydrated after applying this, and a small amount stretches pretty far. My one complaint is this isn’t an under-makeup-kind-of-moisturizer, not for me at least. I wouldn’t say it’s oily, but my makeup gets oily quicker with this underneath, opposed to other face moisturizers I’ve used. I would 100% recommend to use before bed! A full sized bottle can be found on sephora.com for $24.

Tarte Cosmetis Tartest Lip Paint in Rose

Its like Ipsy read my mind! I’ve wanted to try the Tartest Lip Paint for a while now, and not only did I receive this, but the color is spot on! If I were to purchase a full sized, this is the type of color I would go for. I am a huge fan of Tarte, it’s probably my favorite cosmetic company. Whenever I see Tarte in a subscription box I get a little too excited! I wore this the second I opened it and I hate to say, it’s really drying. This wore well throughout the day, no flaking or cracking. I did end up topping it with some chap stick after about 2 hours. If I had prepped my lips better which I typically do with matte lipsticks, this wouldn’t have been so drying, but I was so excited and just slapped it on. This is available at Sephora for $20 for a full size, and the color range is beautiful.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick

This swatched pretty on my hand but did not work well on my eyes. I think it’s because I had used another stick eyeshadow that went on like a dream and then went to use this and was let down. I attempted to highlight the inner corners of my eye with this, but it just didn’t transfer onto my eyes well. I like the color and the idea of this, but it just didn’t hold a candle to my other eyeshadow stick (listed below in my Sephora Play box). This is waaaaay less expensive that that other eyeshadow stick, so keep that in mind. I found this listed on Walmart.com for $8.99. I think I could get a better handle on this if I used it again, maybe with a thick eyeshadow primer to really pick up the color.

Eva-Nya Mane Magic 10-IN-1 Primer

I haven’t used this product yet, but I plan to! The label really makes it sound like this is the bees knees, and I hope it is, my hair could use a pick me up! This is said to detangle, cut down drying time, add shine, protect against heat and more. If this truly does all those things, I will be one happy camper. Maybe I’ll use this tomorrow and blow dry my hair? I’ll keep you guys and gals posted. This full sized is listed on ulta.com for $8.99, not too shabby!

Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush

This is officially my favorite eyeshadow brush!!! This blends out so beautifully, I feel like this really helps me step up my transitions between colors. The brush is soft and fluffy, but dense enough to blend and buff out darker colors. The handle is a good size and shape, not to mention its is a gorgeous shade of turquoise/ robins egg blue. Looks so pretty on my vanity! This goes for $15 of elizabethmott.com.

Sephora Play

Cosmetic Bag

This cosmetics Bag is cute; the graphic is adorable, “Glow Your Own Way”. I don’t love that its a draw string bag, just because it’s not something I could throw in my purse.

Benefits Watts Up Highlighter

I freaking love this highlighter!!!! Its a gorgeous color with a cream to power finish. I apply this on my cheekbones very lightly and blend out with my fingers for a natural look. To amp it up I will top this with a bright powder highlight so that you can see my highlight for miles. I will say, that I’m kinda cheap and I don’t think I would spend $30 to repurchase this, although I’m sure it lasts forever. I honestly love my Pur Cosmetic Highlight Palette which comes with 3 highlight shades and was only $15, so I just couldn’t see myself getting this for $30. I would buy a travel size though, because this one is small, but has a good amount of product in it. Available for $30 on sephora.com.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast

Picture hair spray meets dry shampoo. That’s exactly what this reminds me of. Not sure if that’s what their going for, but I dig it! I’ve used this a few times so far and I’m feeling it!! For example, last night I curled my hair with a wand and fluffed it up a lot at my root. I sprayed this a good amount onto different sections of the root and shook my hair, like you would to set a dry shampoo. This defiantly absorbed oils and gave me a bit of volume. The texture is very hair spray like in that it’s stiffer. This works great for teasing, backcombing or just a quick touch up. Available at Sephora.com for $29.

Glam Glow Glow Starer Mega Illuminating Moisturizer

I haven’t used this yet, and I’m not sure I want to. I know that sounds bad, but it goes for $49 for a full sized jar and Im afraid I’ll fall in love with this and be broke. The makeup struggle is real here people, I’m not made of money! I do love my high end products, but I’m trying to be reasonable. This is likely a fantastic product, I’ve heard such great things about GlamGlow. I just switch up my moisturizers and primers so often that I don’t know something this pricey would be right for me. I am planning on using this, maybe for a night out and see how it looks. Available at sephora.com for $49.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick

I was very excited to see Bobbi Brown in my Sephora bag, as I’ve never used this brand before (again its pricey!). I was a little hesitant when I saw that it was an eyeshadow stick, but I swatched this on my hand and OH MY GOODNESS this color is fabulous. The shade I received is Golden Pink, so perfect for my rose gold addiction! This is shimmery and smoothed and  creamy and pigmented and wears alllllll day and every other god thing you can think. I cannot believe this formula! I should mention that the full size is $30 on Sephora.com, and that is way too much for a single shade of color in my opinion, but I honestly see how they get away with it. This formula is like no other! I wore this to a concert last night and after about 10 hours of being is a sweaty crowd of people, my eyes still looked gooooooood. I am impressed!

Josie Maran Finishing Balm

I haven’t tried this product yet. I am enticed by the idea of a perfecting balm that can be used under or over makeup, I love me makeup that does more than one thing! I am currently hooked on Benefits Professional, so I’ve been using the pretty much everyday. I do want to try this instead and see how it holds up as primer. I’ll let you all know how that works out. This is again one of those, I hope I don’t fall in love because it’s so pricey products coming in at. $36… buuuuut I am willing to pay bit more for a product that helps fill in pores, fine lines, or perfects the skins appearance because I do have acne scarring.

Chloe Sample Perfume

So, I’m glad this was the 6th product in my bag. That sounds crappy, but I just wouldn’t have been happy if this was considered one of my five beauty products for the month. Since it was in addition to five products, I think it’s great! I don’t mean to be ungrateful, I do love this Sephora subscription, I’m just not much of a perfume girl. I prefer to play around with looks rather than scents. This does smell good, I threw it in my bag and used it as a refresher at the concert last night so it did come in handy.

Overall:

For my Ipsy bag, Im thrilled with my Tarte Lip Paint, Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush, & the cosmetic bag.

From the Sephora Bag, I am ecstatic about the Benefit Watts Up, Living Proof Volume Spray Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Stick.

Is it terrible that I want to call this a tie after all that?! I mean, these are both amazing values for $10, you really can’t go wrong if you purchased one or both subscriptions.

I guess if I absolutely had to pick, the Sephora bag is more bang for your buck. However, Ipsy is more practical if you’re looking for products to repurchase since its more affordable products that are available at multiple store.

I hope you all liked reading this post! Do you like having the two bags up against each other? Or did you prefer the single bag posts like my normal Ipsy Unboxing? Let me know in the comments below.

Ipsy Member Rewards

If you have Ipsy, make sure you’re using your reward points! I didn’t know about this for a while and now that I do, I’ve already earned enough to redeem them for makeup!

If you’re unfamiliar with this Ipsy rewards program, listen up! Every month, after you open your Ipsy bag, you can go on the website to review each item. The review ask 2-3 questions per product, usually “How much do you like this brand?” “How much do you like this product” and occasional “How much do you like the color”. The scale you are basing your answer on is little emoji smiley faces, super cute! There’s a small box if you want to leave a comment, but you don’t have to.

Each review earns you +15 points. You can also do a review of the bag overall, which gives you +10 points. Here’s an example of the points I earned for March

There are other ways to earn points, such as following certain bloggers on IG or YouTube. You can also recommend a friend to subscribe and get 250 points!

Once you get enough points, you can redeem them! Just be warned, these sell out QUICK! I had to check the website pretty often, but I did find his beauty for 400 so I redeemed some of my points!

I haven’t received it yet, it will be shipped with my April Ipsy bag. I am very happy I found out this rewards program when I did! Reviewing these products helps the company know what the costumer wants, so why not give your personal feedback?!
